How to have a UofM Tuba Screen Saver!

Since we use Flickr as a backend for our photos, it's possible to have a screen saver on Windows (and other operating systems not discussed here) that displays current pictures automagically. For this, on Windows, I suggest using a program called "Slickr".

Installation

Download and open the application found here: http://code.google.com/p/slickr-dotnet/

It will walk you through the rest of the installation.

Configuration

  • Open up your screen saver preferences window (this is typically done through right clicking on an empty part of your desktop and going to "Preferences")
  • Make sure "Slickr" is set as your screen saver
  • Click on "settings"
  • Click on the "user" radio button and put "uofmtuba" in the field that appears
  • You can choose to display from all, or only certain tags of photos.
  • If you only want to display 2008 pictures, click "Tags", make sure "Any" is selected, and then add "2008" to the field
  • If you only want to display 2008 pictures from the Iowa game, click "Tags", make sure "All" is selected, and then add "2008,Iowa" to the field.
  • etc
  • Click on the tab at the top which says "Key"
  • Enter "5bc6a4b9a03f0254122ae89051978998" for the Key field
  • Enter "a36efdb706d273b2" for the secret field

The rest of it is up to you. Play around with settings until you get what you like.

Note: This tutorial was written in 2008. The Slickr project may no longer be available, but similar Flickr screensaver applications exist.
